Lesotho Postal Code

Lesotho officially known as the Kingdom of Lesotho is a landlocked country located in South Africa. This county is located in Maloti Mountains and contains the highest mountains in Southern Africa. Maseru is the capital and the largest city of Lesotho. The other major cities and towns in Lesotho are Teyateyaneng, Mafeteng, Hlotse, Mohale’s Hoek, Maputsoe, Qacha’s Nek, Quthing, Butha-Buthe, Mokhotlong, Thaba-Tseka, etc.

The official languages of the country in Lesotho are Sesotho and English. Land Area

Lesotho has a total land area of 30,355 km2, which comes to around a total of 11,720 mi2. The territory of Lesotho is divided into 10 districts which were subdivided into 80 constituencies which were further split into 129 local community councils. The names of the districts are Berea, Butha-Buthe, Leribe, Mafeteng, Maseru, Mohale’s Hoek, Mokhotiong, Qacha’s Nek, Quthing, and Thaba-Tseka. It was further subdivided into cities, municipalities, towns, and villages.

Water Area

Lesotho has major sources of water including groundwater, lakes, rainwater, rivers, snow, soil moisture springs, streams, water, waterfall, wetlands, etc. Lesotho has more than three lakes and a few water bodies. Some water bodies have developed as tourist spots. Many water bodies are small in area and contain a minimum volume of water. Most of these water bodies are fresh water and very few are salt lakes.

Mountains

Lesotho contains more than 338 named mountains. The highest peak and the most prominent mountain is Thabana Ntlenyana which is about 3,482 meters (11,423 feet). The other major mountains in Lesotho are Makheka, Mafadi, Tsepeng, Khubetsoana, Makoaneng, Njesuthi, Thaba Chitja, Seqoqo, Lithobolong, Quthing District High Point, Matelile, Baneising, Thaba Putsoa, Devil’s Knuckles, Kolo, Komakha, etc.
